Characterization of tomato genetic resources in the function of breeding

Tomato is one of the most important species belonging to Solanaceae family. Focusing on importance tomato in human nutrition and problem narrowed genetic variability, aim study was assess morphological chemical diversity IFVCNS germplasm collection. Twenty genotypes were analysed for fruit traits: average mass (g), length (cm), diameter pericarp thickness (mm), locules number, moisture content (%), total soluble solids (°Brix), ash acidity (%) pH value. Selected plant material analysis included: landraces, traditional varieties, breeding lines commercial varieties. Differences among all traits determined. Fruit number had highest coefficient variation. The least differences between observed content. Four principal components accounted 90.6% variance or 36.5%, 24.2%, 19.8% 10.1%, respectively.
